iLove The Arts

Art Side by Side

Yeiser Art Center recently partnered with VSA Kentucky and Paducah Middle School by holding an after-school art workshop for young artists with special needs. The works created during this workshop will be presented in a very special art show next week. iLove The Arts because art is accessible to everyone.

The Legacy of Mel Garbark

Mayfield’s Icehouse Gallery has a very exciting exhibit coming up. Mel Garbark was a naturalist and conservationist as well as being an exceptional wildlife artist. Many of his works will be going on sale this May at The Icehouse Gallery in Mayfield. iLove The Arts and these beautiful pictures are an inspiring legacy.

Truly Fantastic Fiber!

The Yeiser has an incredible exhibition starting this week that you do not want to miss. This is not just another quilt exhibition, my friends. There will be fiber works of every variety representing 33 states and three countries. Fantastic Fibers is just one of the reasons that iLove The Arts!

Legally Blonde - The Musical

The McCracken Co. HS Fine Arts Department is bringing this famous musical to life this month. They are delighted to present their 2017 spring musical production! Legally Blonde the Musical will be at the McCracken County HS C-Plant Performing Arts Center for three performances on April 20th, 21st, and 22nd. iLove the performing arts especially when it includes a little dog on stage!

The MSU Faculty Show

We have many wonderful artists in our area- and that includes the ones at Murray State University. They have an amazing and creative faculty. PSAD & WKCTC are bringing some of that spectacular art a little closer to you, so you can be reminded that art are abound all over western Kentucky. iLove The Arts from everywhere!

New Quilts from Old Favorites

The National Quilt Museum in Paducah is flying high with their newest exhibit which features quilts with a theme – in this case flying geese. Each year, they hand out a theme to prospective quilters, and they compete against each other in this creative competition. iLove The Arts even more when they are quilted.

Life Through A Lens

This weekend YAC is hosting an exhibit of photography and MAC is showing some spectacular videos. All this great photojournalism was created during the Mountain Workshop, which was held in Paducah last year. It’s all about “life through a lens” – in this case pointed at people and places you know and love. iLove the arts in our area and you don’t want to miss these events!

Different Times/Different Places

For a town the size of Paducah, the art scene is simply fantastic. Paducah Tilghman High School art teacher and gallery owner Ruth Baggett helps by always contributing to the variety. The Ruth Baggett Gallery presents a group exhibition entitled “Different Times/Different Places.” iLove the Arts in our area!

A Walking Tour in Textiles

The National Quilt Museum in Paducah is honoring Black History Month this February by hosting an exhibition of quilts from Oakland, California. The collection was compiled in 2014 and has been touring the states. The quilts represent a diverse group of people from very different socio-economic backgrounds. iLove The Arts especially when they visit Paducah.

The Purchase Area has an impressive array of artistic talent. Several local artists have chosen to share their skills though teaching. Paducah School of Art and Design (PSAD) is presenting an exhibition of works by local arts educators, both past and present. iLove the Arts and supporting those who teach it.
