This year’s YAC (Yeiser Art Center) Annual Members’ Show will be held from January 21 through February 10. As usual, there will be an opening reception on January 21 from 5 - 7 pm. It’s a great time to come down and see the show as many of the artists will be on hand. Refreshments and beverages will be served.
The Member show is generously sponsored every year by Ray Black & Sons in honor of founding member Ginny Black. It’s an exhibition that showcases recent artistic work from YAC Members in a single comprehensive exhibition without size restriction, presentation requirement, medium specification or quantity limitation.
YAC members are diverse in their practice, ranging from quilters, painters, and sculptors to poets, performers, and video artists. Members are encouraged to think outside of the box with their submissions. They can even include performance art!
You can participate in this exhibition if you are a current (2017/18) YAC member. Each member is allowed one free entry and additional entries are just $15 each. YAC members have a variety of artistic talents, ranging from quilters, painters, and sculptors to poets, performers, and video artists.
The deadline to enter is January 10 (today!) at 5 pm. Drop off dates are January 6 -10 from 10 am – 5 pm. Pick up dates are February 21 & 22 from 10 am – 5 pm.
A committee made up of members and their peers will select the entries who will be honored with an award. Awards will be assigned based on innovation and artistic merit.
Best of Show will receive $250 and a feature profile right here on iList. Solo Show Award will get his/her work on exhibition at 1857 Hotel & US Bank Lobby. First place gets $125, second place receives $75, and third place receives $50.
Being a YAC member not only gets you tons of benefits and insider-access to YAC happenings, it is also a way to show your support of the arts community in Paducah and beyond. YAC offers programming that brings art from outside of Paducah into the area, and promotes our local arts community to the world.
Your membership is a way to help ensure YAC can continue their hard work at bringing quality exhibitions, diverse workshops, and other cultural events to the area. YAC’s membership base aids in receiving support from individuals, businesses, and government entities.
