Paducah School of Art and Design (PSAD) is excited to present Tim Jaeger: 10, a mid-career mini retrospective. Jaeger was raised in Paducah but now lives in Florida. He is excited to bring some of his work home for this show and to teach a workshop. Color and Expression: Paint What You Love, is a painting workshop that will be held during this Summer Master Artists Workshops program at PSAD.
The exhibition will feature an expansive range of ideas portrayed within bodies of work that were all created over the last decade. His recent series visually interprets the nostalgia, memory and visceral appeal of "Old Paducah". It defines our history and community, and continues to live on in our minds.
Jaegar told me that he takes an extended vacation to Paducah 1-2 times a year as he still considers it home. “The majority of my family still resides in Kentucky,” he said. “Oddly though, I see a lot of Paducah folks in Florida (Sarasota and Naples mostly) all throughout the year. One of the many things I enjoy about social media is that it's kept people like me- - that still want to be close to their hometown in the loop and in communication with everyone.”
"I'm humbled by the opportunity to exhibit at PSAD - it is a testimony to the conviction of Paducah's artists to this location,as well as the support of our community that keeps them here. I'm also pleased to be launching PSAD's 2017 summer workshop program with a three-day workshop, providing the tools and techniques for students to realize their own individual creative process."
Tim Jaeger: 10 will open with a reception event from 5-7pm, on June 9, and run through July 21. The show will be in the Bill Ford Gallery, located within PSAD's 2D and Graphic Design Building in the Lower Town Arts District.
Jaeger's painting workshop will run from June 12-15, 2017. Tuition is $290.
Jaeger was raised in Paducah and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Since graduating in 2002, Jaeger has continued to maintain his Sarasota studio while engaging the community in numerous projects and fostering new artistic partnerships through his role as Campus and Community Engagement Manager at Ringling College of Art and Design. Jaeger's paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections both in the United States and abroad.
