Christmas is just around the corner. You don’t want to miss our area light displays as they are bigger and better than ever. While you’re driving around soaking up the Christmas spirit remember that they raise funds and food for those in need. iLove It when the lights twinkle to put the twinkle in the eyes of those in need.
Christmas in Noble Park is the annual event that turns the Noble park into a Christmas wonderland. Noble Park is beautiful in the day, but on a moonlit night in concert with a half million twinkling lights, it becomes a magical place - and all for a good cause.
It’s sponsored by Paducah Power and with a lights attached to hundreds of animated characters and everything - Christmas! It covers most of the 135 acres of the park and is sure to get every member of your family in the Christmas spirit.
To see the lights, you just need to drive through the entrance of Noble Park at Park Avenue. The road takes you through the entire park and circles back to the exit at Park Avenue. It’s free but please help by donating money or nonperishable foods (such as can or dry foods) at the Santa House that sits about quarter of the way through on your right.
The Santa House is manned by PPS employees and community volunteers. The donations go to St. Vincent DePaul Society, Family Service Society, Paducah Cooperative Ministry and the Salvation Army. Last year, the Annual Christmas in the Park raised $43,752 and 66,893 pounds of food.
The lights will be on display until New Year’s Eve on Sun -Thursday from 6pm to 9pm and Friday -Saturday from 6pm to10pm. Carriage rides by John’s Pass Carriage Company will also be available.
In addition to the Christmas in the Park light display, organizations in Paducah and McCracken County have placed replicas of large greeting cards in Noble Park.
Experience the magic of a small town Christmas. Experience Christmas between the Lakes at Patti's 1880's Settlement and Restaurant . Their annual Festival of Lights will run through the first weekend of January, 2018.
In Grand Rivers their Christmas celebration includes over 700,000 lights and displays in Patti's 1880’s Settlement and downtown, unique shops, memorable family meals at Patti's Restaurant, and cozy lodging beside Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley.
Enjoy the wonderful display of lights located at Central Park in Murray. Drive through the park, and feel the holiday spirit. For more information, call 270.762.0325. The lights will be on display until New Year’s Day.
On December 21 Central Park is hosting Family Night. Santa will be paying a visit in the Park from 6 - 8pm. They will be accepting a canned food or monetary donation for entry.
Mike Miller Park also has a colorful light display at their Christmas in the Park light. You can drive around nightly from dusk until the park closes at 10pm, through December 31st.
Admission is free, and Marshall County Caring Needline will be there accepting canned goods and monetary donations.
Although they don’t have a light display we thought we’d also mention the Metropolis Chamber Toy Drive at Metropolis Chamber of Commerce, 516 Market Street. A drop box of the Christmas for Kids Toy Drive is located in the Chamber office. Donated toys will go to Massac County children in need. For information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
