iLove My Library

From Barbed Wire to Bluegrass

April’s Evening Upstairs at the McCracken County Public Library takes a fascinating look at how nine holocaust survivors made a new life in Kentucky. ‘From Barbed Wire to Bluegrass’ recounts their testimonies and paints a picture of their lives. iLove My library for choosing unique and interesting speakers each month.

Evening Upstairs: Irvin S. Cobb

Humorist Irvin S. Cobb is one of Paducah’s most famous inhabitants. This month’s Evenings Upstairs series at McLib will be taking a closer look at the man we’ve all heard of, but maybe don’t know much about. iLove My Library for always keeping me educated.

Read Like a Girl!

Read Like A Girl is a program for mothers, daughters, grandmothers, sisters – really girls of all ages! Join Kim Russell from WKCTC each month to discuss a great book and enjoy a craft project each month. You can read the book with a family member, or your friends, and attend together! I love reading great books and iLove my library!

Traditional Irish Music

iLove My Library today and every day, but I’m especially fond of their March event. On one of my favorite holidays of the year, St. Patrick’s Day, they are excited to share Traditional Irish Music Live at the Library. The McCracken County Public Library never ceases to amaze with their variety in special programs and performances.

Shorts & Stouts @ Dry Ground

iList is always amazed by the programming at the McCracken County Public Library, but next week’s event is really ‘out of the box.' Continuing their newest partnership with Dry Ground Brewing Company, McLib is sponsoring an educational book discussion of one of my favorite short story authors…and of course, there will be beer too. Cheers! iLove My Library very much!

Beer 101

Ah, the good things in life…friends, family, and beer. With local craft breweries taking off in our area I can hear you screaming yes! The McCracken County Public Library has something special just for you. Join McLib, along with co-sponsor Dry Ground Brewing Company, for an informational look at beer throughout the years. iLove My Library for knowing my educational needs include beer too.

One Book Read

The One Book Read project is a communitywide effort to encourage reading and improve regional literacy rates. The project encourages the community, area school districts and colleges to read the same book and come together to discuss it in a variety of settings. Of course, the McCracken County Public Library is hosting an event in honor of this project. iLove My Library because they encourage me to read.

Who Do You Think You Are?

The McCracken County Public Library is constantly serving its patrons. From activities for children to prolific guest speakers to live music in the library, they never fail to amaze us. McLib has recently added more records from local funeral homes that complement their genealogy series. iLove My Library…they are too cool!

The Birth of a Nation

February is Black History Month and McLib is celebrating with a great new presentation. Local man Oscar Micheaux was a profound filmmaker for three decades. Find out more about African-American Cinema from SIU Professor Walter Metz. iLove My Library for celebrating Black History Month.

Frog and Toad & Pinkalicious in Person

When I was a child, I loved Winnie the Pooh. While enjoying his books and movies was exciting for me, the moment I met the “real” Winnie the Pooh at an amusement park changed my life. Do your children enjoy seeing their favorite characters in person too? Don’t miss the McCracken County Public Library’s next great event. iLove My Library for bringing joy into the hearts of our children.
