Dr. Elizabeth McGregor is a new pediatrician at Quick Care/Four Rivers Internal Medicine in Paducah. She is a busy mom of three girls - all under the age of five. She loves old school country music and her UK Wildcats. iMeet this pediatrician who takes care of her children and loves taking care of yours!
I’m originally from Lexington. I am a UK Wildcat through and through - I obtained my undergraduate degree, attended medical school, and completed my residency all at University of Kentucky.
I've been married to my husband Jonathan for seven years. He is an anesthesiologist and we met in medical school - at UK of course! We have three girls Charley (4), Brooks (2), and Andersyn (9 months)
I always remember wanting to be a doctor even as a little kid. I shadowed some physicians in high school and that really sealed the deal. When I first entered medical school I thought I wanted to be an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. I didn't become interested in Pediatrics until my 3rd year of medical school when I fell in love with the pediatric patients.
We moved to Paducah after finishing residency. I worked in general pediatrics for six years. I decided to take a year off from practicing medicine when we had our third daughter. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to be a full time mom for a while.
Four Rivers has graciously agreed to hire me as their part-time Pediatrician. This allows me to have the best of both worlds; I have plenty of time at home with the girls while still being able to do the job I love. I cannot thank Four Rivers enough for creating this position for me.
A work day includes getting the girls to daycare in the morning then heading to the office to see patients. Four Rivers accepts both established pediatric patients and walk-in patients. I love having a mix of both well child visits and acute care.
A day at home means getting my oldest to and from preschool. The rest of the day usually involves ‘dress up’, ‘princess time’, and caring for our baby dolls. The girls and I love being outside whenever the weather allows.
The best part of my job is that most of my patients are healthy - my role is to ensure that their growth and development remains on track. Even when kids get sick, they are remarkably resilient, and bounce back quickly.
Unfortunately, there are times when you have to deliver bad news to a family that you know will change their life forever, this is the hardest part.
Ha! Being a mom of three little girls doesn't leave much free time. We are huge UK Wildcat fans so we love watching UK sports. I enjoy crafting and we love spending time at the lake with Jonathan's family or traveling to Lexington to visit mine.
I am a summer girl all the way. I love being outside - we all go stir crazy in the winter.
Thanksgiving! I love spending time with family and all that delicious food. My favorite childhood memories are centered around Thanksgiving.
"Blues Man" by Hank Williams Jr. I'm a huge country music fan - especially old school country.
