Stay Afloat at the Paducah Regatta

The Paducah Parks Services Department is holding the Paducah Regatta on Saturday, June 17 at the Noble Park Pool. Using materials such as cardboard and duct tape to construct a boat, the goal is to race it across the pool without sinking. Registration begins at 8:45am with the boat races at 10am. The cost is $20 per boat.

One Hour and All the supplies

Participants are given a maximum of one hour to build their boat. All boat-building must stop at 9:45am.

All of the supplies to build your boat will be provided, or bring your boat from home as long as it adheres to the construction restrictions.

All boats will be inspected by judges to make sure they meet building criteria. Materials used must consist only of paper and paper products. Duct tape and water soluble glue may be used to seal seams, holes, and cracks. Boats cannot be wrapped in plastic, tape, or any other similar material.

Boats must be human-powered. Store-bought paddles are allowed.

The length of the boat must be no more than 5 feet wide and 12 feet long.

People of all ages can compete in the race, and you can compete as an individual or as a team. A team can consist of one person or as many as can fit inside the boat.
