Dust off those ping pong paddles and come out to raise funds for a great cause. Join the fun at Dry Ground Brewing Company on Saturday, June 3 at 2pm to participate or just watch the fun. The cost is only a $25 entry fee. Spectators are welcome at no charge!
The Paducah Young Professionals (PYP) steering committee wanted to host a fundraiser for a local charity, and decided to do something a little different - that was also a lot of fun. Several PYP members play ping pong for fun and they thought a tournament would be a unique way to raise money. I mean, who can resist a little friendly competition for a good cause?
The owners of Dry Ground, Ed and Meagan Musselman, are PYP members and huge community supporters. Mason DeJarnett, the PYP networking chair and event coordinator, worked with the Musselmans and Corey Greene, Dry Ground Manager, to make the tounament happen.
They were all very excited about the idea from the start. Dry Ground has a ping pong table, and Ed has already been practicing for the tournament! They truly hope a lot of people will participate in the Ping Pong Tournament so that they can make it an annual event.
Member Services Director at the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce Kelly Davis told me that PYP has not raised money for Family Service Society (FSS) before. “PYP is a fairly new organization that has been in existence for a little over a year,” she explained. “The goal of PYP is to engage our community’s network of young professionals through community service, as well as through networking and professional development. Giving back is important to our members, and this is an opportunity for us to make a difference in our community. There are so many outstanding organizations in Paducah that it was difficult to select just one.”
“We want everyone to come down and be involved, because it’s going to be fun and we are helping the members of our community,” said Mason DeJarnett, Event Coordinator. “When you combine a little friendly competition with an awesome charity like Family Service Society, you have a winning event.”
100% of the tournament entry fee and a portion of the Dry Ground Brewing Company beverage sales, taken during the event, from will be donated to FSS. This event is open to the public, but pre-registration is encouraged. Same day registration will be available. There will be no losers’ bracket with the best of 3 in 11-point games.
