If you love watching softball we have the event for you! This year’s Knock Cancer Out of the Park is being held at McCracken County HS softball fields this Saturday, August 18. The event begins at 10:15 am with Kylie Bucher performing the national anthem. The softball games begin at 10:30 am. Full concessions will be open throughout the event.
Participating teams include Oncology Associates of West Kentucky - their teams are Oncology Tumorators I & II. Baptist Radiation Therapy’s team is called Radiation Renegades, and Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation is bringing a team called Rangers of Motion.
There will be a recognition of those who have fought cancer at 2pm. The final game of the tournament will be played at 3 pm.
Stephanie Bucher, The Clinical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor at Oncology Associates of West Kentucky began this event last year.
”Jana Ramage and I just thought it would be a great idea to hold a softball tournament to raise money for the American Cancer Society,” Bucher told me “We love softball and are always thinking of ways to help in the fight to end cancer We discussed it with a few of our coworkers and just went with it!”
I planned everything out and made all of the arrangements needed. We have received some generous donations from members of the community but the majority or the event has been funded by myself and other staff.
Last year was our practice run for the years to come. This year will be even bigger. We have added two more teams and are making it an all-day event.”
