Cinema Systers Film Festival
Cinema Systers Film Festival (CSFF) was created to uplift the visions and voices of lesbian filmmakers, and to provide a dedicated space to publically showcase their art. Lesbians have been an acutely under-represented voice in the film industry. This festival is an acorn which grew from the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival.
The festival is designed to strengthen and connect this diverse community of women/womyn. Organizers intend to build bridges among audiences, filmmakers and the community at large. They accomplish this through the exhibition of lesbian produced films and other events scheduled throughout the weekend.
This year’s festival has more films and more film venues. Maiden Alley Cinema will have the film blocks you are used to, and there is now a second film screening venue at the Market House Theatre, Black Box Theatre, in Downtown Paducah.
All film screenings are free with your "All Access" Weekend Pass - $150. You decide what films you want to see and the events you wish to attend. You can also purchase tickets on the day of the screening but seating is limited, and tickets for more popular screenings sell out ahead of time. Tickets for each day are $65.
Please note that not all films are suitable for all audiences, and some films contain adult content. Please bear in mind that the films you see at CSFF may challenge you in different ways and viewer discretion is advised.
The festival runs from Thursday, May 23 – to Sunday, May 26. There will be workshops, parties, meet and greets, book signings, art exhibition, and spoken word events throughout the weekend. For a complete schedule please visit cinemasysters.com/event-schedule.html
The films being screened this year are from many genres and range from documentaries to full-length features. There are animated films, documentaries, comedies and more! Some films are just a few minutes long - most range from 15 – 30 minutes.
