Teams of 15 from companies and organizations throughout the area will flex their muscles for Special Olympics vying to see who can pull a loaded UPS 18-Wheeler 12 feet in the fastest time. That’s approximately 80,000 pounds! Younger teams have the option of pulling a UPS panel delivery truck – still heavy, but a little easier to get moving.

Be a Team!

Teams are limited to 15 pullers and can be made up of friends, family members or coworkers. Many teams that participate in the Big Brown Truck Pull come from companies and other community organizations, but they could just as easily be any 15 friends or neighbors. Teams raise a minimum of $750 (or about $50 per team member) to compete, youth division teams are to raise a minimum of $300.

Prizes will be awarded for the fastest pull time in men’s, women’s and co-ed divisions as well as to the team and individual who raises the most funds, the team that shows the most team spirit, the best team cheer and the team with the best team t-shirt or costume! On August 6 it will all come down to strength and determination as they take the rope and pull that truck!

“Our goal this year is to raise over $30,000,” explained Laura Miller, West Regional Director for Special Olympics Kentucky. “We hope to register 30 teams, but we still have a ways to go if we are to meet that goal. So help us make the event as big as we can and sign up today!”  Teams can sign up on-line.

Sports, Training & Competition

“Special Olympics prides itself on being able to offer sports training, competition and programs at little to no cost to our athletes and families,” said Miller. “We currently offer five different sports throughout the year in McCracken County. By raising additional funds, we hope to expand the sports opportunities and local SOKY programs.” The money raised will help with uniforms, transportation and equipment needs.
