The show opened on August 2 and will end on August 12 with a Closing Reception from 2-4 pm at the YAC.

This summer, Yeiser Art Center (YAC) teamed up with MAKE Paducah and put together a summer catalog of Fine Art Studio and Craft classes. Now, YAC is proudly displaying the art created by students from those camps. It’s an opportunity to spotlight the work they created in their very own show.

Classes were offered at both the Yeiser gallery and at MAKE’s studios. Students signed up for a class at either location and had a full day of art. A chaperone walked students from one location to another. Everyone that participated in at least one class from the “Fill Your Summer With Art” catalog was invited to participate in this show.

Nine year old Sam Bozone attends Lone Oak Intermediate and participated in the classes. He attended the Monsters In Motion Sculpture Workshop. It was his favorite because he enjoyed creating something from his own imagination and bringing it to life.

“I made two abstract pieces: one was a sculpture using wire and paper, the other used fabric and paper over a wire frame and then painting the different shapes created,” Sam told me. “I also made a small bird created from Papier-mâché sitting in a wire bird nest, a hot air balloon created from Papier-mâché, a monster using clay, and a tablet using cardboard, and a sculpture made with metal and hot glue which I then carved into the metal and painted over it.”

Sam’s Monster In Motion Sculpture will be in the art show. It is called Fur-Corn II and is based off of My Singing Monsters mobile game.

Sam encourages others to participate next year.

“I would definitely attend next year. This is my second year to attend the sculpture camp at Yeiser,” Sam added. “I like the camp because it allows me to use my imagination and try out different art mediums to create many different pieces of art.” Get to the YAC to check out Sam’s sculpture and many others!
