The biggest little picnic in western Kentucky kicks off with a Fish Fry on Friday at the KC Hall on Highway 45 just outside Lone Oak. The St. John’s Picnic is a two-day event the will end with a spectacular firework show on Saturday night. What happens in between gives this fun weekend a “must attend” status.
The picnic will begin at 11 am at St. John's Church grounds complete with amazing food, a 5K and 1 mile run, games, shopping and a lot of delicious food. This year, you'll be able to partake in home-cooking, the likes of which you've never before experienced. The feast will include BBQ, mutton, walking tacos, hamburgers, burgoo, ice cream and much more! The Picnic festivities includes bingo, a bazaar, cake walks, a country store, games for all ages, bounce houses for the kids, free fireworks, and much more!
Quilt & Cash Raffles
There are always lots of raffles to enter at the and win at the Picnic. This years will feature an amazing raffle of hand-made quilts. You may purchase a quilt raffle ticket on picnic day. The quilts and tickets are located in the school building, last room on your left when you enter from picnic grounds.
Need a little extra cash? Organizers will also be raffling off cash prizes in the amounts of $10,000; $1,000 and two raffles of $500 each.
Tunes & Fireworks
The St. John’s Picnic features an extensive lineup of live-music for you to enjoy. Carson Beyer will take the stage at 3pm, followed by the band Brass Monkey at 5pm. The show will close with Adam & The H-Bombs at 7pm.
Celebrate your full-stomachs and cardio accomplishments with a free epic fireworks display! Their 1st ever fireworks display will commence the evening of Saturday, September 8th following the day's festivities and events.
New 5K this year
The 2018 Picnic will feature a new 5 K Run/Walk - starting and finishing on the grounds of St. John's Church at the historical Old School building. This will be a road race with some rolling hills. There will also be a 1 Mile Fun Run, starting and stopping at the Old School.
Registration begins at 7 am and is $30 for the 5K and $10 of the 1 Mile Fun Run. The 5K will begin at 8:30 am and will be followed by the 1 Mile Fun Run at 9:30 am. There will be a presentation of awards at 10 am.
Awards will be as follows: 5k - 14 & U, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70&OVER (At least Top 3 in each age group, M-F). Special awards will be given to: M-F Overall, M-F Master Overall Finishers (age 40+). There will also be 1 Mile Fun Run Awards which include medals or ribbons given to all participants.
