For the past couple of years the Carson Center and the Yeiser Art Center sponsor a massive Candy Cane Hunt. It’s held on the lawn in front of the Center and it's absolutely free! The Carson Center front lawn is located at 100 Kentucky Ave in Paducah. Registration for the event begins at 12 pm. Kids 10 and under can enter the hunt and will receive a gift bag at registration while supplies last.
The children will be divided into different age groups as they race to collect around 2,400 candy canes. There will be three hunts for different age groups: 3 and under at 12:45 pm, 4 to 6 at 1 pm, and 7 to 10 at 1:15 pm. Prizes will be awarded for finding special candy canes. This year's candy canes will be provided by Banterra Bank.
Kids can also take part in the Yeiser Art Center coloring contest anytime from 12 - 2 pm. They can color their sheet on site, or take it home and drop it back off at the Yeiser before Thursday December 6. Winners will be announced after that date and prizes will be given out for the age groups of 0-3, 4-6, and 7-10.
“This is the third year that this fun event is put on by both Yeiser Art Center and Paducah Parks & Recreation,” Recreation Specialist Taylor Morsching told me. “We’re revamping the Candy Cane Hunt this year with all activities on the front lawn of the Carson Center. Along with the three hunts, the Yeiser Art Center will be hosting a coloring contest on the front lawn area so kids can color their picture before or after their scheduled hunt. These coloring pages are designed for this event by Bill Ford!”
“The Candy Cane Hunt is a great way to spend the day with the family,” Morsching added. “ There will be prize canes scattered throughout and if you find one of the special canes you win gift cards to Cinemark, Chuck e Cheese, or Ya-Ya’s Island.”
